Goodbye, sad desk lunch

Slightly under-cooked spaghetti and the Indian Ocean

I’ve been eating sad desk lunch - albeit with an amazing view - for the last two years.

Yesterday, I hit my personal FIRE number (calculate yours here). Today, my partner sold his startup and our family net worth doubled. Tomorrow, I will submit my resignation letter to the company where I have worked for 10 years in five countries on three continents.

It’s been a busy week.

It’s been a busy 10 years as well - moving countries every two years with just two checked bags each, surviving a military coup, an Ebola scare, building a house, having a kid (the Ebola was the least stressful by far). It’s been so busy I forgot to do what all early retirees advise - figure out how on earth you will spend all your newfound free time.

So what does one do with unlimited free time and twice as much money as you need? Start a blog, I guess. In 3 more weeks, I will officially be a lady who lunches.
